WRC declares prolonged 2025 calendar with 14 rounds

The World Rally Championship season is fast approaching, having been underway since 2008. The calendar has been confirmed to expand to 2025, with 14 races to follow.

As previously reported, the WRC schedule will likely be expanded next 12 months with three recent rallies, joining the Canary Islands, Paraguay and Saudi Arabia.

The schedule includes five flyaway rallies, 4 asphalt rallies, nine gravel rallies and one snow rally.

Monte Carlo retains its position because the season opener in January, with the rally once more going down in Gap. Next 12 months it’ll have its longest route since 2018, starting with three stages in darkness on Thursday night.

The championship will then move to snowy Sweden in February, before the annual visit to Kenya in March. The first of the brand new rallies will host the fourth round in April, as Spain returns to the calendar after a two-year absence via the Rally Islas Canarias, which has been promoted from the European Rally Championship.

The asphalt event replaced Croatia, which dropped out of the calendar after failing to sign a brand new contract.

Portugal is starting a series of seven consecutive gravel rallies, including Rally Italia Sardegna and the Acropolis Rally, the latter returning to its traditional June date, having been held in September in recent seasons.

Estonia returns to the calendar instead of Latvia in July, ahead of Finland, while the WRC heads to Paraguay for the primary time in August. The South American country has secured a multi-year deal to host the top-flight rally. The gravel round will happen two weeks before the second South American round of the championship in Chile.

Following its first edition last 12 months, the Central Europe Rally, which incorporates asphalt stages in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, returns in October ahead of the fourth asphalt rally of the season in Japan.

The all-new Saudi Rally, which has signed a 10-year cope with the WRC, will conclude its season in November, marking the primary time the Middle East region has appeared on the WRC calendar because the Jordan Rally in 2011.

“From the ice in the French Alps, to knee-deep snow in Sweden, to blinding dust in Kenya and Sardinia, to high-speed gravel rollercoasters in Finland and Estonia, and even to the deserts of Saudi Arabia – the variety we offer in 2025 is unparalleled.”
