The German did not advance from Q1, qualifying only in nineteenth place, a far cry from his previous efforts this season.
But Hulkenberg said: “The missed opportunity happened yesterday [Saturday] and the entire weekend normally.
“The problem we had with my automobile was that in some way it wasn't completely sound, I feel aerodynamically or somewhere.
“After the race I still feel like I'm struggling, that we're not 100% where we must be yet. But you realize, after all, you do the most effective you may with what you’ve gotten.
“But obviously missing Friday and not having time to react after that means… it's just a difficult weekend given the circumstances.”

Calling for a review of the issues to seek out an answer ahead of the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, Hulkenberg added: “Throughout the weekend, especially on my side of the garage and from the primary lap, I didn't feel good and pleased with the automobile and we’d like to research what's occurring because this it really put our weekend in jeopardy.
“Everything that happened after which qualifying cost us a greater result because I'm sure that with a greater qualifying, which we often have, if we had began further in front, we might have scored points. So it's sort of a missed opportunity.”
